Laurie Simmonds is president and CEO of Green Living and is one of Canada’s leading environmental marketing, communications and events experts. Laurie has successfully expanded the scope of Green Living’s business offerings to include corporate consulting, marketing, custom publishing and online content development, and she produces major environmental events such as The Green Living Show, Scotiabank’s EcoLiving Awards and the Green Toronto Awards. She is responsible for rebranding and publishing Green Living magazine, launching The Home Depot’s Eco Options magazine, developing Scotiabank’s EcoLiving website and publishing EcoLiving magazine. Laurie is part of a select group of Canadians who completed The Climate Project training program led by Nobel Laureate Al Gore. She is also a member of the Prince of Wales’ Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change. In 2010, Laurie received the Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 award from the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).
Brenda has more than 20 years of marketing and sales experience with an impressive track record in developing strategic partnerships and creating programs that make an impact and engage audiences. She spent 14 years with Canwest and raised the bar in creating and executing innovative media campaigns and strategic partnerships. She has worked extensively in strategic planning, production, media buying and public relations for numerous clients. She is well connected in the media industry, and has a keen understanding of the pricing strategy and negotiating tactics to deliver great value to clients. Brenda has played a major role in the creation, execution and media buying of successful multimedia campaigns for clients including: Toyota, Ontario Tourism, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Pizza Pizza, Virgin Mobile, Direct Energy, Scotiabank and the Green Living Show.
Vice President, Operations
Christopher Seguin’s career in event development and management spans over two decades. Since joining Green Living, he has played a leading role in the launch of the Green Living Show and its growth into Canada’s largest environmental consumer show. Christopher has also led the successful production of the Green Toronto Awards for the City of Toronto as well as the Green Living Business Forums. His knowledge of the green sector and his experience in greening events are what give him an edge in the industry. From concept development and strategic planning through to execution, his experience and expertise have played key roles in some of the world’s most influential events, including World Youth Day (Toronto), the NBC Olympic program (Athens), World Youth Day (Cologne) and the Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Program (Cologne).
Vice President, Client Relations
Robert is a seasoned event producer specializing in delivering large-scale trade and consumer shows, academic and industry conferences, seminars and speaker events. His extensive experience in sponsorship, sales (exhibit and advertising), special events and experimental attractions includes work on Gift Shows in Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Vancouver, as well as conferences for York University, OPA, ONFC and SBR Global. Since joining Green Living, Robert has been involved in the production of the Green Toronto Awards for the City of Toronto and the Green Living Show.
Vice President of Strategy & Creative
Ben is a strategic thinker and creative director with more than a decade of experience helping leading organizations create meaningful communications. He has worked with well-known Canadian brands such as Maclean's magazine, TELUS, and The Royal Conservatory of Music. Having worked in a diverse range of disciplines that include branding, editorial design, marketing, and interactive, Ben has a proven ability to conceptualize multi-platform campaigns, and harness the talent of multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality results. Since joining Green Living in 2007, Ben has created innovative communications for clients such as Scotiabank, The Home Depot, Toronto Hydro, the City of Toronto, Samsung, and Environmental Defence. Always seeking to add to his creative toolkit, Ben is currently completing a part-time Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation at OCAD University.
Director, Special Projects & Production
Jillian has more than 10 years experience as a production and project manager in print, web and broadcast. Jillian is the past production manager of Canadian Art magazine and the Canadian Art Foundation. While at Canadian Art, Jillian initiated the development of the magazine¹s environmental policy, resulting in proofing and paper-purchasing guidelines that applied principles of sustainability. Jillian is a designated FSC-Xpert Pioneer. As project manager for Green Living, Jillian has managed the development and launch of Scotiabank's multi-platform EcoLiving program that includes EcoLiving magazine, EcoLiving online and the EcoLiving Awards. Jillian's list of clients include Toronto Hydro, Direct Energy, The Home Depot Canada, the City of Toronto, and Sears Canada.
